Mission 2007 from Fund raised

With your support in the Lua Viet fund raising event in December 2006, Lua Viet has been able to bring much needed relief in two mission trips to Viet Nam.
In the first trip in March, 10 Lua Viet volunteers paid their own expenses to join over 100 other Project Vietnam members to provide:

  • 52 surgeries
  • 6,400 patients seen at 4 rurals schools and 8 village clinics
  • Dental work for 1,000 chilren
  • 1,000 school backpacks distributed to needy children
See below for some pictures from this mission that went from Vinh to Hue, Phu Quoc, Rach Gia and Saigon.

Pictures from the joint mission with Project Vietnam to Rach Gia

A week old infant girl at Vinh hospital was born with disconnected colon. She was operated on the next day by Dr. Kim (Oakland Hospital) and the result was successful. She is expected to live a normal life.

A young boy with severe heart defect at Vinh. The hospital staff does not expect him to live.

An infant receiving UV light treatment for jaundice. Without ultraviolet light, the hospital staff uses different contraption of fluorescent light. This is a common condition that is easy to treat but can be fatal if left unchecked. Unfortunately, custom practice in the countryside and lack of education often leads to tragic result.
